Eldar Wave Serpent

After finishing my Fire Dragons, I started work on the Wave Serpent that will be carrying them. The following pictures are the start of the process. Notably, I magnetized the weapons for the turret so I can switch between any of the weapon layouts for this guy.

It should be noted that my Eldar army is going to be done in Yme-Loc colors. So I have yet to finish the base coat. I will complete painting the driver before final assembly, and do the final assembly before completing the paint job on the rest of the model. I plan on making the grey areas flat but put a camouflage pattern in the orange areas.

Fire Dragons

In starting an eldar army, which I have been thinking about for over a year, I got a box of Fire Dragons and a ton of paint over labor day weekend and started to work. I was really focused on getting them complete in record time, having not really completed any of my other models yet. Below are the stages and the final versions of these models plus some individual highlights. I am very happy with the way these turned out and am very proud of the results.

Next on my list is a Wave Serpent in Yme-loc colors followed by a box of Dire Avengers. I'm still debating on my Avengers whether to equip the Exarch with the power weapon or diresword. I might try magnetizing the arms so i can switch them out as desired.

Terminator update

I finished the initial painting and I assembled my Terminators. I love the "ole" pose, so get over it.

Terminators and Terrain

I didn't get as far along on my Terminators as I intended because I got hooked on playing Dawn of War, but I did get the initial layers of pink and gold on them. I also got started on a new set of terrain that are 6 12"-blocks that I plan to be used either as stand alone pieces or that can be place into sets to make larger formations. A picture of the first piece, though incomplete, is here included.

Chaos Terminators

I worked on my Chaos Termies today. I built them into basic "blocks" that I'll prime and then put the first coat of paint on before I fully assemble. This unit is a test. I had been doing some painting on the sprue, and really liked it, but didn't like the difficulty of cleaning the flashing. I hope to have the best of both worlds with this method. You will see I mounted all of the pieces onto the copper wire that I use to pin and then inserted the wire into some left-over insulation board from the terrain building. The models themselves are basically sprue-made with most of the lightning claws coming from the Chaos Terminator Lord/Sorcerer model. Two of the claws I had to modify from powerfists. One I used the blades from the CSM knives to make it into a claw, and the other I used some extra bits from the Chaos Spawn. I'm pretty happy with those few mods. Otherwise, I'm fine with these models right out of the box.
Models include: Terminator Champion w/ Chainfist and Heavy Flamer
2 Terminators with Lightning Claws and Twin-linked Bolters
2 Terminators with Pairs of Lightning Claws
I'm dedicating them to Slaanesh which is why I'm using more LCs than PFs.

BT Scout Update and plans

I have the update photos for both my 5 Neophytes and my painted terrain that I included in my last post. I still need to work on how I paint faces, but this was really my first attempt. I also need some practice with their hair.

In other news, I figured out I have enough bits for my 2000 point CSM list. I will start working on them this next week and will hopefully have pics up for my next update. The list includes about 55 infantry models so it will take me a little while to get it up and running.
Also, this week is my birthday (wed.) and GenCon starts in Indianapolis (where I live) this week. I think my wife and I are considering going for a couple of hours this year to just check out, not participate necessarily. I've also been finding some new places to play in the last week and I'm anxious to get a real list together for some games outside of my usual gaming group.

Terrain

I built some hills for my regular group to use this weekend out of 2" insulation board. I don't yet have pictures of it painted, but here are the pictures from the "glued together" stage. In other modeling news, I'm pretty much finished with 5 Neophytes for my Black Templars, they make an appearance in these photos to follow. I also purchased a Chaplain so I don't need to sub anything in any practice games I may do with my BT army lists.
Foolish Neophytes trying to hold out against 3 Chaos Spawn and a Defiler. Foolish, foolish Neophytes.
